Thank you for your reply.

I am looking for information on David and Lily as i cannot find anymore info at the moment,
I now Know that they are both buried in Bothwellpark Cemetery but there is no headstone on the grave and i was hoping that this would give me the information that i require namely birth dates ,death dates Fathers name etc
My Grandfather Alexander Wilson Taggart is thier son and the other info in the previous post is all that i have.

I am here in Ontario,Canada so it is not always easy
to find these records so I rely so much on 'buddies'
like you, my grt granmother lived with my granparents
on 'Duke St' and my father remembers as a small boy
' Aunt Maggie ' coming to visit her sister 'Mary Pursell
Giffen', she died 1910,buried with 'James' in Glasgow,,,
Maggie was buried back in Campbeltown in the family plot.

Hopefully someone from the 'Mushet-Family-Tree' will see this and get in touch,,,,

andrew laird a plumber aged 20 married annie f bowden 18 2nd october 1883. his parents were mitchell laird ships carpenter and journeyman and annie nee philips (i think that is what her surname says)

Hi Brian did you get my last message? The Matthew Riddell you mentioned i don't think is my one as he was not on the 1851 census plus he was born 1799 so would be ten years younger than this one . He was also a coal miner.On Mary's death certificate there is no mention of a minister only the words " Buried in St Johns Churchyard Baillieston as certified by Arch.Smith Sexton.I wonder however just who is this Matthew is he maybe a relative of my Matthew.I will have to see if i can find out. Hi,

I am searching for my g,g, grandfather William Shaw born 1857 in Lanarkshire.

I have his marriage cert to Alice Louisa Rumbol in Chelsea, England in 1881. It states his father as William Shaw, Labourer, Deceased. His age is 24 and occupation was Solider.

In 1881 census he is living in Chelsea Barracks as part of Scots Guard. It states his place of birth is Lanarkshire and his occupation before soldier was a Rock Splitter.

I cannot find him in any earlier census or and none of the birth records on Scotlands people seem to match the information that he gives in his maariage cert.
He died late 1882 and had one son William Charles Shaw.

If anyone has any information about him or can find him in the census then please let me know.

looks like james and margaret may have married in england. later census james james senior say he was born in monmouthshire. i gave you the date of elizabeth and james marriage on my first message to you. james quite a common surname and james james was quite a common name as is margaret so there are many possibilities.

very interestingly the frank above on the 91 census is francis edward and when you look at his birth register it gives his mother as elizabeth james nee mccreadie. his date of birth was 10/08/1877 and it says that his parents were married on march the 18th 1809 but that can not be so as that would have made them married for 68 years.

ok now i have found davids birth david mccredie james january the 20 something looks like 28th address 43 Dalziel st mother elizabeth james nee mccredie father james james date of marriage is now given as 05/06/1877. i think she just did not want to say they were not married. perhaps margaret and elizabeth are one and the same person.

what do you think?

As far as I know Barony parish is in Glasgow near Glasgow Cathedral. There is a Barony Hall at 16 Rottenrow E which looks like it is or has been a Church. You can find it on Google maps.

Barony has come up many times in my searches on www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk.

I am looking for a George Taylor born in Scotland. He worked with the Hudson Bay Company near Temiskaming, Quebec. I believe he married a native and had at least one daughter, Rose who married Moise Lavallee. All I`ve found so far, is that on the census for Rose, that her father, George Taylor was born in Scotland. Dates would be early 1800 or late 1700`s for his birth, I`m thinking.

The 1891 census shows them as at Maryhill Barracks, she is a 'soldiers wife'. In 1892 their daughter Elizabeth Phoebe Ellen was born in Sheffield as was my gmother Kate and siblings where they lived.

Brenton rang today and asked me to pass on his and his mother's thanks.... they were both excited at what you sent. It all fitted perfectly with the scant info they had.
Brenton even accepted that he has some Irish ancestry.

Christina died about 1970 Bargeddie GLASGOW
Buried: Monklands Cem. near Coatbridge SCT.

James & Christina also lived at: Cowie, STIRLINGSHIRE & Gartgill, GLASGOW.
James was a miner.

Daughter:
Christina Watt MCCORQUODALE
Born: 13/9/1922 @ Cowie, STIRLINGSHIRE.

Robert Craigie Rutherglen & Eliz Logan Gorbels - married Hamilton 1825 ?

I have William Craigie born 1825 Hamilton Lanarkshire.

Parents: Robert born 1800 Rutherglen and
Elizabeth LOGAN born Gorbels 1804.
They married 1825 Hamilton

All came to Australia 1838 on "William Rodger"

Can anyone help where they were before 1838?

Graeme, Thank you....perhaps as there is no Census, I would need the birth certificate of Robert Craigie so as to get his parents names and place of dwelling.
Also the same for Elizabeth Logan, to find her parents names.
I do not have a birth certificate for either Robert or Elizabeth.

Still looking for my great Aunt's family in Glasgow, SCT. Margaret Craig m. Stanley Rozario abt 1910 had three children: Margaret May Rozario b. 1912, Stanley Rozario b. 1914 d. 1993, Thomas Craig Rozario b. 1920 d. 1924.

Last known address between 1920-1928 was 64 Balfour St. Maryhill, Glasgow.

Be nice if I could find her decendants.

Thomas 1791-1852. Issued first medal (Waterloo) given to other ranks.
Thomas 1821-1879 Son of above, Our info suggests that siblings emigrated to New Zealand, one of them named Margaret

I too am researching the James Hamilton family of "East Drumloch" farm. One of the younger sons, James, was my ancestor and he married a Mary Wallace and they settled in Carluke where he farmed 200 acres at "Hill of Westerhouse Farm" for many years and the family had butcher shops in Hamilton, Wishaw and Carluke. One of his daughter's decendents still run the butchers shops there today.
