Surnames: Horne
I would like to find more information on the Horne family of Eday and Sanday. Adam Horne was a Farm Overseer on Eday in 1861. On the 1871 census he is listed as Factor living at Factor's House. He was apparently born in Wick, Caithness. The 1881 census has him still lliving at Factor's house. He is listed as Estate Factor. I'm assuming this was the Carrick Estate.
I managed to find a picture of Adam and one of his son's in
the Kirkwall picture archives. I believe this son may Robert who moved to Sanday. Robert is shown on the 1891 and 1901 census of Sanday. He is a farmer living at Warsetter/Warsatter. His wife is Barbara ? and they have several children - Marion S. age 9, Barrie M. age 8, Adam age 4, and Maxwell age 5 months. Any ideas or suggestions as to how I might further my search would be appreciated. I would like to discover more pictures of the ancestors and/or descendants of this Horne family.
