Hi William

I am not sure the information you have given is correct, I have an extract from the IGI which gives the a christening not a marriage on the 12 June 1720

James GROUNDWATER (M)................. C: 12 Jun 1720 Ba: C110232

Father: James GROUNDWATER Orphir, Orkney, Scotland So: 990506

Mother: Grisil WILSON Pr: 6901949

I suspect the second listing for 1726 is correct as the IGI contains the following:

Magnus GROUNDWATER (M)................ C: 15 Mar 1713 Ba: C110232

Father: James GROUNDWATER Orphir, Orkney, Scotland So: 990506

Mother: Grisil WILSON Pr: 6901949

Magnus GROUNDWATER (M)................ C: 8 Sep 1728 Ba: C110232

Father: Magnus GROUNDWATER Orphir, Orkney, Scotland So: 990506

Mother: Jean HAY Pr: 6901949

Magnus could have easily between christened in 1713 and married in 1726 and had a son also called Magnus in 1728.

This of course leaves us all with the dilemma of whether it was this Magnus who married Isobel and had seven children!!!

Trust this helps
