I am aware of a William Croy (born Stronsay 1764, son of Robert Croy and Margaret Chalmers) . This man was probably the William Croy who drowned along with 30 shipmates during the wreck of HMS Pandora in 1791, on Australia's Great Barrier Reef.

I am attempting a 'reverse genealogy' with a view to locating living male descendants of this William Croy - any sons he may have had,  any male descendants of either of his brothers Edward b. 1769 or Robert b. 1766, or descendants of any of his male first cousins.

Further information about my project can be found on the Orcadian Newspaper website:

I would appreciate hearing from anyone with this man or his male descendants in their trees.
