Trying to find any information that I can on the 3 brothers listed above. I know that they were in the Portsea Island Union Worhouse in the 1881 census. I know that they were admitted there prior to 1879. James left the workhouse in 1884 and became a boy soldier. He married Frances Clough in Halifax Nova Scotia (whilst serving with his regiment).

James was lost at sea in 1927.

The ages shown in the workhouse records would indicate dates of birth as follow: James 1868, Charles 1870 and William 1872. The records state that they born in Portsmouth (as does the 1881 census)

I am unable to find any birth records or parents names for the brothers. Can anyone assist me - please....

Kind regards

Chas
