My late husband's grandfather was Theophilus Smith Marshall,born 1841 the eighth child of Theophilus Smith Marshall, born 1803,and Mary Morrison born 1806. His grandfather was Theophilus Smith Robert Marshall, a weaver born 1767 in Balgarvie; his grandmother was Catherine Robertson born 1759 in Balgarvie. Until very recently I was unable to locate Balgarvie but a Scottish sister-in-law of my daughter has found that is was near Scone but had disappeared from the maps. It is now back being redeveloped as desirable real estate!
