I have a picture of a woman identified as Gedian Learmont, probably taken before 1830. My Learmont family came to Quebec, Canada from Scotland, having lived several places there - East Lothian, Edinburgh, Earlston (Thomas Learmont, Thomas the Rhymer). I don't know who Gedian is and am wondering if anyone would recognize that name. If she is my 3G Grandmother, she had a daughter, Mary born about March 1797 and a son, James, born Aug 9, 1810, who both came to the US. Mary married Andrew Spedon of Edinburgh and they had a son born Aug 21, 1831 in Edinburgh. James married an Elisabeth Black whose family also came to the US or Canada from Haddington in East Lothian about 1831. Hoping to hear from someone who recognizes this name or family. Thanks.
