I am doing family research on my mother's side of the family. They are all from Lerwick, Shetland Islands. I will tell all I know and perhaps you might recognize something or can tell me another resource site. I am trying really hard and finding nothing but I am determined to not give up.

All we know:

John Irvine (parents unknown, birthdate and deathdate unknown) married Margaret Anderson, date unknown but guessing it would be like 1860's maybe. They had three
children: William Henry Irvine b. 7/8/1881 died 9/18/1938
Annie Irvine b. 9/27/?
Andrew Irvine b. 3/22/1866

William Henry Irvine came to the US in 1912 arriving in Boston. There he met Jessie Ann Morrison from Nova Scotia. Her family had come from Loch Lomond Scotland. They had one child--my mother--Josephine Irvine born 1/10/1917. She is still alive.

Annie Irvine married a Robert Nelson who was born 2/1/? They had three children:
Alexander Nelson b. 5/15/? John Nelson b. 2/2/? Margaret Nelson b. 5/19/?

Andrew Irvine married Elizabeth Smith. They had no children.

Annie and Andrew remained in Scotland. I think they lived in Aberdeen instead of the Shetland Islands.

I am trying to find out about John Irvine. Who his parents were? Who his mother was? Did he have siblings? That sort of thing. It is very hard to find out anything.

I hope to hear from you. I never realized how important and a great family the Irvines are until I started doing research. It seems the Irvines are of royal blood. Does anyone know anything about that? How do the Irvines tie in to the Stuarts? Do you know?
