Hi Martyn,

I'm afraid the names Ferguson and Morrison are like Smith and Jones around the Bonnybridge area!

I'm in the (slow) process of transcribing and photographing as many MI's as I can in this area including Denny Cemetery which is the main one for the area but there is also Camelon Cemetery a couple of miles along the road and both are HUGE! As well as these two Cemeteries, there are Churchyards here, there and everywhere.

If you contacted the Cemetery Records Office in Camelon, they might be able to tell you where James (who died in 1898) is buried.

Is the James (born 1871, died 1898) the same James Morrison Ferguson, your great grandfather? If so, I make his father (David) aged 43 when he was born - is this correct?

Have you found any of the families on any Cencus? James would have been 10 in 1881

I had a look on the 1881 Cencus and there were only 2 James Fergusons born in Stirlingshire in 1871+/- 1 year and these were:

These obviously don't tie up with your names???

BUT - I then looked for a David Ferguson born 1828 +/- 3 years and found this family:

What do you think? Do you think possibly you've missed a generation?
