The local Family History Center has films of Wigtownshire Marriages. All filmed years have been ordered in and are on the shelves permanently. Films cover 1855-1875 PLUS the additional single years of 1881 and 1891. I checked Stranraer for Marriages in 1881 and there are no McCLINTONs who wed that year. Maybe the marriage was late in December and not registered until 1882. The year noted in ScotlandsPeople and sometimes in the IGI is the year of REGISTRATION not of the actual birth, so December events sometimes appear to be missing....they can usually be found in Registrations the next year probably January.
