Surnames: Myrick, Merrick, Meyrick
My early ancestor was Meyrick ap Llewellyn(Meurick) will dated 30 Nov 1538 of the castle Bodorgan, Anglesey Wales.
His son John Merrick Rector of LLandachya, Wales is the supposed father of 4 sons that came to USA Charlestown Mass
1626 on The James. Meyrick ap LLewellyn was the captain of the gaurd for Henry VIII and the first sheriff of Anglesey.
Two questions-anyone working on these lines? And second question is the castle still there ? I have a book written in 1902 with a picture dated 1901. It states also that the
Meryrick-Merrick family still lived in the castle and they had in the library-musuem Meuric's father's two handed sword and saltcellar still preserved. Since Meuric was a
captain of the gaurd of Henry VIII I was wondering if there is a painting or sketch in a history book or in the castle of this very old ancestor of mine. I am putting a book together only for the immediate family and thought it would make it interesting if we could find a sketch of this
historical figure and ancestor. Any help or suggestions are welcomed. Thanks, Jackie In Idaho USA
