My grandfather was Methusalem Thomas Jones, also known as Meth, but with slightly different dates (1860 - 1952) which have lots of corroborating evidence - see Longhurst Family Tree (1).
It's an unusual name so could this be the same person you are researching?
My grandfather's family connections derive from Anglesey & Caernarfonshire. He was a slate quarrier for a time, then prospered to become an Inspector (or something quite senior) for the Prudential Insurance Co, living in Portmadoc or Tremadoc while my father was growing up.The family moved to a large house in Wrexham for a time but I believe he died while living in St. Asaph. He was a highly respected Methodist lay preacher who could well have had obituaries in the local press but I haven't looked yet.
