Im sorry I wasnt aware Lee's family had been looking for him all this time.

I do have information on his last few years before he died in Wales1994. You seem to have been looking for a S-J Riley. I am pretty sure his girlfriend at that time went by the name of Sally.

There is a memorial plaque in Aberystwyth which we arranged.

I still have the letters he wrote to me while he was in Suffolk in 93/94. I can also tell you about the period he lived in Eire 91/93.

I saw you had also posted on the Lewisham know where board looking for details of him so I will also leave a message there.

If you let me know what info you are seeking I am sure I can help you.

I think the book you refer to is 'Struggle For Survival In The Cardiganshire Hills'of which I also have a copy. There is another book by Alan Leech called 'Llanfair Clydogau, History of a Cardiganshire Parish' which is also very informative. A further book of interest written in Welsh is 'Cyfrol y Jiwbili'wtitten in 1926 by a DR D L Morgan telling the history of Capel Mair which is the Independent chapel in Llanfair Clydogau. My interest is in the Lloyd and Lloyd-Jones families of Llanfair and nearby Cellan and Llandewi Brefi

I believe we may have a connection here. My Richard Wilson Steele was born in Llandilo Fawr 1812, a sibling of the children that were born 1815-1820. He also was around the same area, getting married and having twins in Leake.

I have some more information on his siblings and maybe we can compare notes and work on this together.

Hi i know a few years have gone passed since you posted this however my ggggrandmother was also Mary Richards married to David Richards, 1841 shopkeeper,Daniel,Thomas,Mary,Anne.
1851 Mary was shopkeeper she was also a Widower. David died in 1848, Dec 21 ??? Daniel married Mary Phillips 1844, Thomas was my gggrandfather his son william I was born in London Aug 6,1900.
any of this fit in your tree.

I have a Winnifred Rees that I am working on that was born
14 Jul 1814 in Tynycoed, Cardiganshire, Wales. She married a Evan Faulkes Morgan on 3/1832 there. They ended up coming over to America in 1838 and landing in New York. They had three children with them, Morgan, Thomas and Richard all supposedly born in Lledrod, Cardiganshire, Wales. I have no info on her parents or siblings. Hi - Just picked up a book on Thomas James, MA, Llandysul today and having just put in his name into google came up with your query under Ancestry. I only picked up the book as I am researching my family history who originated from Llandysul and the surrounding area. With regard to your query I am pleased to inform you that in the book on "Cyfrol Goffa" on p.38 it does say that T.James married on 8 August 1888 long after his middle age a Miss Mary Morris Penmorfa sister to the late Rev. J. G. Morris, Indepdendent Minister from Newport Pembs. He died on 6 September 1915 aged 80 in Llandysul and is buried in Seion Chapel, Llandysul.

from the BMD index accessed through a FHC today:
there are four John Jones fitting description of my ggrandpa ie born Apr-June 1863 in Tregaron.
All are in Vol IIB. At least two are on page 89
and there is also one on page 85 and one of page 87 of Volume IIB.
What is the most economical next step to see if one of these John's has a father named David who was born in Tregaron and mother Mary?

My brave attempt for the New Year:
Any advise how/where to find out more about John, Mary, and David Jones living in the house Nantylles in Caron Ys Clawdd in 1841 or Blaen Caron in 1851 in Cardiganshire Wales.
John was b in Caron (Tregaron) ca 1785, farming 74 acres at Nantylles.
Mary was b in Caron ca 1786.
Mary (daughter probably) b in Caron in 1827 - not in the 1851 with the fam. (married or dead?)
David (son probably) b ca 1828 in Caron.

Can't find John in 1861 and not sure about the others.

Where this is going: Is he David who sailed to US in 1864, my gg grandpa?

My family's David J E Jones moved to US in 1864 with wife Elizabeth and son John.
Hoping to learn how/where to find (microfilm? book lookup?) births, christenings, marriages to know if this is my Jones family.

I think you will find Benjamin Davies in the 1901 census - rural Lampeter covers a very large area, but there is a family which is very probably the one you are seeking - "Frondeg on Cwmiago" is the description on the census form. But Frondeg IS on the older maps, nearer Cribyn than Cwmiago.
Oldmaps.co.uk coordinates are 252550 and 249520
1901 census Piece: 5145 / Folio: 47 (Page: 10)
Present road number is B4337.

I have found a couple of entries for seamen's tickets for Simon. The most helpful reads:
C1789 Jenkins Simon 15 Cardigan Littlehampton of Arundel Dec 1835
I know that Simon was back in Tremain at my gt gt grandfather's wedding in 1848.
Any further information on Simon Jenkins and his family would be appreciated.

I understand somewher there are MI's for the old parishes in Llanafan. Im specificaly trying to locate the inscriptions for either Robert Sibbald (born scotland abt 1770-1777) (d. jul 1856 Llanfan, Wales)
or his wife Rosina Preston (Nee Lauder)b june 1776m d after 1841 sometime? suspect Llanfan but no record of her

I have reason to beleive Robert is a cousin to Sir Robert Sibbald. this may help satisfy 6 generations of speculation

Not one of my research interests but I have come across some Barkley's in the Cwmystwyth area while researching my own family. I only noticed them because they appear to have lived in at least one of the houses where my maternal antecedents lived. But we are talking about later than early 1800s e.g. 74 year old Anne Barkley in the 1861 Census.

On the 1831 map (which is very difficult to read) either the property I'm looking for, or one of its neighbours (hard to tell) is listed as Rhos or Rhos Bettws. More than likely a neighbouring property.

Although Llwyn-y-groes is listed on here (village name today of the property) the property could fall under 'Capel Gartheli' (Gartheli).

The property today is known as Blaen-waun/Blaenwaun - I believe it has always had the same name, but of course that may not be the case.

Any help greatly appreciated

Looking for information on my Great Grandfather Benjamin Davies b: Aberystwyth 1894, married to Leticia/Letitia/Lettice/Letty May (nee Evans). Benjamin had sisters Hannah (married to Thomas Jones)sister Elizabeth and a brother Watkin (married to Elisha). His family lived in Frondeg House, Lampeter and Chapel House Cribyn. Mother named Jane, father's name unknown was born in Cribyn. Benjamin lived in Swansea 1911, 12 Baptist Well Place. Family then lived at 11 Baptist Well Place. Can only see on him on the 1911 census.

Thank you - Yes I had the children and the married couple but was unable to go further back from the mothers side due to lack of maiden name. From your help and the help of another found the Smith link (Ironic that in Cardiganshire at the time about 75% of the population were covered by the top 5 Welsh names I thought it would be impossible only to find out they bring in the most common 'other' name - Smith:)I was curious to see what happened after Sarah and Benjamin went to Derby. It seems that William died in 1899 (info from someones tree, no confirmation) I'm curious what became of Ann. I'm now looking to see if she too went to Derby with Sarah of if she stays on in Wales - as William dies (aged 44) and Sarah gets married she would be around 54 yrs old so who knows.. It's all very interesting, you have been really helpful, thank you. p

Thank you, someone tipped my off at the weekend. (still getting to grips with the search engines)
I also have her parents as William Smith abt: 1853 Sutamerica New Orleans married to Ann Smith abt 1847 Cricceth Caenarvonshire (would you agree?) I can't seem to find them in the 1901 census - which is the point Benjamin and Sarah Ann are having Benjamin (1st son) and soon after William (2nd son) before moving to Derby.

Any help is appreciated - thank you for your post.

Almost all my information re the Owen side of my family is on my website. The section on Edward is at http://owen.cholerton.org/08_edward_00.php . I'm afraid that chapter is the least extensive & least interesting of all the sections about James Owen's offspring; most of his other children led more colourful lives. To my knowledge 'my' Edward's son, Bernard, had no children unless by a liaison after he left his wife & only one of Edward's daughter's sons survived to adulthood. I did have an old family tree which suggested Edward had another son but I was unable to find any evidence of his existence.
Thus, it seems unlikely that 'my' Edward is also 'your' Edward but please let me know if he is.

Just spoken to Huw in Village Agricultural show and he asked if she was the Hannah who married a Owen who was a Blacksmith at Seilach and Huw has Census etc going back & will give me photocopies to see if there is any info on there into Hannahs life - They must have rented the farm as his Uncle bought it off the Gorgerdden Estate in about 1914.... will keep in touch

My ancestors once owned seliach farm. My grandmothers brother david Owen lived there with his wife I believe her name was auntie ley. David passed away and we know that the farm passed to auntie ley s side of the family but know no more than that. I think the previous generation of Owen family lived there also.

Please mention me to mr jones. Any information that he has regarding seliach or the Owen family would be most appreciated.

There is still a Jones living at Seilach Rhydlewis - abt 4miles from me - Huw Jones and brother David. Their mum inherited Seilach and she would have been born about 1918 and his Dad a Jones may have been related to Hannah - I will ask him next time I see him and see if he has any info for you, regards Carol

Hi my name is Fiona,

I have recently acquired to sets of informtion which confirms my 5 x grt grandfather was in the cardinganshire milita. He married in Chester in 1795, and had a son in Pembrokeshire in 1798.

I am wondering if there is any records of the milita personal and where he may have come from ie recruited and when and where he was discharged which would help me in finding more information on him and his family
