My grandfather Edwin Williams often mentioned that he was related to the former MP for Wrexham, and told me he visited him when he was in office in London.

This would have been James Idwal Jones (30 June 1900 – 18 October 1982), who was Wrexham MP from 1955 to 1970, and brother of Thomas William Jones, Baron Maelor, Member of Parliament for Merioneth 1951-1966. The politician Jones' were from Rhos, specifically Ponicau, which suggests a connection with my GG grandmother Rebecca Jones of Rhos (1835-1893), however so far I'm unable to find the connection. Web biographies say their parents were James Jones (of Ponciau) and Elizabeth Bowyer of Rhos. According to Ancestry trees James was the son of Thomas (b.1845) of Ponciau, who was the son of James (1819) of Chirk.

In my family Rebecca Jones of Rhos (abt1835-1893) married firstly Edwin Prince, then after his early death Henry Davies in 1866. The marriage certificate lists her father as Edward Jones.

I've other Jones ancestors in Llanfair and Llangwm, but I've no reason to think they are the same family.

If anyone can help find the connection I'd be very grateful!
