I know this is a bit like a needle in a haystack but here goes!

Tracing my maternal line from mainly NE England coal miners, I've come across a JOHN WILLIAMS who married LOUISA BRYAN in 1842 in Mold. I've tracked them forward to Staffordshire (where a child or two was born and Louisa died) then to Sunderland which is fine. What I'm stuck with is going backwards from John. He was born around 1821 in Mold, father's name was (I believe)Edward and his mother may have been called Elizabeth.
The marriage certificate lists a Sophia Williams and John Bryan as witnesses but can't find these by the usual census/parish searches. It looks like they could be siblings of the bridal couple.
I can trace Louisa's family back (although no mention of a brother John but there is a Noah) so it is really the Williams family I'm looking for.
Is anyone else looking for these, or has found them and is willing to share information or point me in the right direction?

Thanks, Sue
