John, thanks so much for looking this up for me so quickly.

It's very mysterious, Edward's POB is definitely Hope in the 1861 census. He was living in Chorlton-upon-Medlock in 1851, and unfortunately this part of the census was damaged and wasn't filmed. I've found the MLFHS transcription, which confirms he and his wife Mary were there with two other Chiltons (most likely his children) but it gives no information about the POB so I think that may have been lost.

I suppose it's possible he was baptised in another parish in the Hope/Hawarden area? I'll see what I can find out!
