Bl Ffestiniog is near Porthmadog N Wales. My paternal grandmother was a Mary Ellen Jones (1881-1945) she lived in Blaenau Ffestinog (Gwynedd)
Her father was John Elias Jones a tailor (1854-1923)
His father was Robert Jones (1822-1921) a tailor who was the first man to use a sewing machine and made Lloyd George's first breeches ( His picture is in the Gwynedd Archives Caernavon.)
Coild it be possible that your John and Mary Ellen Jones were related? Possibly was John, Roberts brother? My records from Wales only mention Robert as he is the derict line to me.
Robert married Ann (1822-1899) they had 6 children (Robert, Evan Elias, Janet, Margaret, Gwen and John Elias my great-grandfather) His father was John Elias Jones (1800-1865) married to a Mary ? (1794-1879)
This line of Jone's now have two relatives living in Australia, myself and a cousin.
Clare Jeffrey, Sunbury Victoria, Australia. 10th May '99.
