Seeking parents of Stephen DAVIES, b. abt 1805, Pembrokeshire, Wales; d. 12 April 1884, age 79 at 72 Yew Street, Troedyrhiw Lower, Merthyr Tydfil, Glamorganshire, Wales; buried 16 April 1884, Aberfan Cemetery, Merythyr Tydfil, Glamorganshire, Wales. His wife was Sarah JAMES,
daughter of Thomas JAMES and Margaret ROWLAND, b. abt 1818, in Pembrokeshire, Wales. Died 5 August 1866, age 48 at
10 Tyntaldwyn Road, Troedyrhiw Lower, Merthyr Tydfil, Glamorganshire, Wales. They had 5 children: Martha m. Samuel McCLEAN; John m. Elizabeth LEWIS; George d. infant;
Ann/Nancy; Sarah m. George JONES. Sometime during the fall of 1873, son John and his wife Elizabeth with their family came to the United States to Pennsylvania. John's last name was changed to "DAVIS" by a bookkeeper for the company - he was then known as "John D. DAVIS". The family moved on to Preston, Idaho, where John and Elizabeth are buried. Would like to share information with anyone researching this family but cannot proceed back on the line without knowing who Stephen's parents were. I'm curious to know if the surname was different the generation before Stephen, as he was born about the time surnames became standardized. Please contact Marcellene Graham DAVIS
