I'm researching my maternal great great grandfather William Jones who was born in Pont LLogel, according to many reports, in 1848. He is said to have moved to Melverley in Shropshire to work at Melverley Hall Farm when he was around 20 years old. Here he met his first wife, Sarah Ann Davies. They moved to Crosslanes, Melverley to farm and raise a family. Their first child, Emily Annie, was born on 19th April 1862. This is where it doesn't add up. If he was born in 1848 he would have been around 13 when he fathered his first child. It's more probable he was born in 1838. I would love to hear from anyone who can shed some light on this discrepancy.
