I should be very grateful for any information re: my great great-grandfather THOMAS PICTON DAVIES. He was born in WALES possibly MONMOUTHSHIRE. His forbears were possibly solicitors from SWANSEA. He sailed to JAMAICA around the early 1850s and became a planter. The name of his spouse is not known. Both Thomas and his wife died in Jamaica.
He had three daughters, Miriam born 1851, Margaret born 1855 and Sarah born 1856.
From the Wales Census (1871 onwards) we know that Margaret and Sarah were born in Jamaica, and in 1871 had returned from Jamaica and were living in Wales. The 1871 Census states that Miriam was born in Battle Brecknockshire, but research has not revealed the correct birth certificate. It is assumed the three sisters returned alone to WALES.
Any information would much appreciated re: The DAVIES FAMILY IN WALES OR JAMAICA.
Thank you,
Eleanor
