I am an absolute beginner at all this, so don't really know where to start!
I'm researching my husband's paternal side of the family and I'm only on his grandfather and already it's quite complicated.
He was known as 'Albert Henry Buckley', but anecdotally within what family is left, he was also known as 'Albert Buckley Merryweather'. The confusion being he was in care homes/was fostered as a child.
Albert had about 6 children in Bedwellty in Monmouthshire in the 1950's with Nina Cookes. They were not married, and Nina in fact had been previously married to someone else by the surname of Moulson.
1. Do I have to contact the council in Monmouthshire to try and find census records for the 1950's or can I request this through my own local library?
2. Can anyone advise me how I find out about children that were in social care/fostering from the 1920's to about 1940's?
MANY thanks :-)
