I wonder if you could help me please. I'm looking for any information (eg a Baptism) about my Great Great Grandfather JOHN CLEMENT. He was born in about 1849-50 (although could be slighter earlier). The earliest information I have for him is from his marriage certificate in 1878 (Merthyr Tydfil) it says his father was THOMAS CLEMENT, FARM BAILIFF, DECEASED. What clouds the issue is that we are not sure if he was from Barnsley Yorkshire (as stated on the 1881 census Ystradyfodwg) or PEMBROKE DOCK (as stated on the 1891&1901 census Ystradyfodwg). He died in 1910 in Ferndale, Glam. He was coal miner.
Am I correct in thinking Clement wasn't a particularly common name in Pembrokeshire back then? Do you think it's possible at the time of his birth his father may have been in the Army/Navy and stationed at Pembroke Dock? Do you know what regiments were there then?
I hope you can help in some way.

Thankyou,
Victoria.
