I am unable to access Pvte Msge's on Rootsweb an intermittent problem of long standing with no solution.
Herewith my answer ;
Thankyou for your query on the Absalom Family of Sth East Pembs. This is a surname in an area that has been researched by a number of different people, not least I thought on this forum and others over the years. I have done some work for others with reference to this family, but I never keep any answers I make to queries, I just do not have the room on my antique almost steam driven computer, the downside being I have to research anew each time.
Charles Absalom mrd Mary Griffiths in 1765 at Amroth, another Charles Absalom mrd Jane Smyth in 1804 again at Amroth. Amroth records appear to start in circa 1754.
I note the burial of Mary Absalom at St Issells in 1816 and possibly a relation Ann Absalom also at St Issells in 1825.
On one of my repeated trips to the churchyard of St Issells in the community area to the left of the stream I do seem to remember some Absalom headstones, but none would be as early as your require.
The Absalom family are certainly not native of St Issells, far from it, I am pretty sure you will find them further north of the county ~ H’west and St Dogwells come to mind. Also I am aware that there are early non-conformist in the Absalom family.
Can you please remind me at what location Benjamin Absalom mrd because it was not Amroth, Begelly or St Issells.
I shall certainly be at my 2nd home (some call it the Record Office) next week, so will add to my ‘to do’ list to look at Amroth 1765 ~ 1785 for the Absalom 1st born at least and then St Issells 1765 to 1800 to see if there are anymore Absalom children baptised there to Charles and Mary.
From my database of all names, places and relationships in all wills proven at the E.C.C. of St David’s for the parish of St Issells 1564 to 1858 I note the surname Absalom appears in the following wills ;
David Merryman ref SD1797-011
Charles Absalom ref SD1841-004
John Davies ref SD1842-126
And of course Charles of 1804 which you already have.
Hope you find this
