I am trying to trace a parent of this ancestor James MORTIMER.
His wife was Martha JAMES b 30 Apr 1820 in Marloes, Pembs., they were married 5 Apr 1845 in the Parish Church of Herbrandston.
They had children:John b 1845, William b 1848, Amy b 1852, James 1855 and Fanny b 1858, she is my ancestor.
According to their marriage certificate James' father is 'unknown' but he obviously had a mother and I am assuming her surname was MORTIMER, can anyone suggest where I might look now to find an entry of his birth please?
