Hi
I'm not sure if I can help. My father's family lived in Petty's Long Island and some land documents I saw as a child had the name spelt as "D'arville on them. This was one summer vacation back in late 60s when I was visited my Grandmother Lillian Darville nee Wells. Trying to find
out when they settled has been a problem. My mother who was the historian died recently always told me that we were 4th
generation so that means my grandmother was a 2nd generation settlers. You're right it is a headache. My mother's side were definitely Irish/Scottish. The Darville side is a minefield. My grandfather was George Darville, my father Harry John Darville.
