My greatgrandmother was an Albury. Her name was Ada (she was also known as Susan). I have a copy of her birth record. It states that she was born in the Parish of St. Peter, Cherokee Sound November 15, 1878. Her parents are shown as Menendez Albury and Sarah Albury formerly Albury. The father is shown as a seaman. She married William W. Knowles 1895 at Cherokee Sound. I can't find record of her parents anywhere. I would greatly appreciate it if you do. With a name like Menendez it should be something you would remember. She received a copy of her birth record from Capt. Curtis Albury, Albury Lane, Nassau, N.P., P.O. Box 909 in Sept. of 1945. I am assuming that he was a relative of hers but can't find any record of him either. These are unusual names in the Albury family so I'm sure they will come up sooner or later. Who are some of your family members? My husband's family are also from the Bahamas. His ancestors are John and Elizabeth Skelton, married in 1779 in New Providence.
