Dear Mr. Flores Tabarez,
I had a great grandmother, Carmen Herrera, from Spain. She was over 100 when she appeared on the "Queen for a Day" television show, nominated by her daughter, Blanca Aurora Fernandez Herrera (my paternal grandmother), from Santiago de Cuba but living in Havana by then (the 1950s).
Carmen Herrera was rather eccentric, short and slight as I remember her and quite fond of flamenco. Her daughter Blanca seemed to me beautifully Sephardic in her features, fair skin and thick hair.
Do you have any information on the Spanish Herreras who came to Santiago?
Thank you for your research, Ines Diaz-Owen
