My paternal GGrandfather was Nicolas Ramos Duarte from Las Villas province in Cuba. He married Rosario Enriques and they had 8 children. I believe they lived in Guines.

My grandfather was Nicolas Ramos Enriques and he was born December 31, 1890. The names of his brothers and sisters are Felix, Teresa, Mercedes, Domingo (world-renowned landscape painter), Jose, Maria, Ramiro, and Leoncio (died very young). My grandfather married Ofelia Escandon Rabassa and they had 4 children.

My father's name is Guillermo Ramos Escandon. His siblings are Ofelia, Eloina, and Nicolas (died in infancy). My grandfather died in Havana on February 14, 1963. I'm looking for relatives from this side of my family. If you think we might be related or you have additional information that might fill in some of the gaps please feel free to contact me via email. Thank you.

My paternal grandmother was Mercedes Ramos, her brother was Domingo Ramos the painter. She married Carlos Urquiza and they had 2 sons, Nicolas Eduardo Urquiza Ramos (my father) who passed away in 1994 and Erasmo. I can tell you that they did live in Guinnes and Havana.

I do remember visiting Maria Escandon as a child and some of the Ramos relatives. I think one of the cousins was named Mario and was a pilot. I do remember Felix who was Domingo's son and also a painter and his wife. Felix I believe passed away in 1993 or 1994. They had 2 or 3 daughters. My mother knows more of the family tree than I do. I also am trying to fill in the gaps in the family tree.

Please feel free to contact me by e-mail. Maybe we can fill in some more gaps.

I am helping an elderly friend to research his family tree and his father Ramon Diaz was born in Palmira, Cuba in December of 1896. I am writing because of the surname of Enrique mentioned above. Ramon Diaz's parents were Enrique and Socorro Diaz. I know from the ship manifest he had an Uncle Leopoldo Diaz, and at least two brothers Frank, and Eliseo Diaz. When Ramon Diaz sailed for the United States in 1914, he was residing in Cruces, Cuba still not far from his birth place of Palmira. On Census records here in the U.S. it says his parents were born in Cuba too.
Is there any connection to any of thes people that you can tell me. I am having no luck with such a common name as Diaz, and my friend is 84 so I am against a time clock to find information. Thank you for taking the time to read this query and for any information should you have anything.
Sincerely,
Cora Francoeur

Hi Showtoon,

I spoke with my father this weekend and mentioned your post. He remembers your grandmother Mercedes, your father Nicolas, and his brother, Erasmo. He said your father was known as "El Niño”. I remember meeting Erasmo many years ago in California.

I also sent your post to my godmother Eloina, who is the unofficial historian of the family. She probably has photographs of many of these people.

You’re right, Mario was a pilot as was his brother Eugenio. Mario passed away many years ago (not sure of the year) in an airplane crash. He had two children, Mario (Mayito) and Alicia. Mayito also passed away approximately 10 years ago. I have not spoken to Alicia in many years but my parents may still have a way of contacting her.

Felix had three daughters, Margaritina, Alina, and Betty. Felix’s wife, Margarita, passed away a couple of years ago.

I did not see your name on the post but feel free to e-mail me directly if you wish to remain private. My e-mail address is wramos@bellsouth.net.
