I am researching my wife's family who are Romaguera in Puerto Rico. According to family history the sons of Miguel Romaguera from Corçá, Gerona, Catalunya, España in the mid 1800s sent his sons out into the world because "the family was hard pressed." One went to Cuba, one to Puerto Rico, one to New Orleans and perhaps others to Argentina and Uruguay according to family history. I have extensive data on the Puerto Rico Romagueras and some on Miquel Romaguera including the names of three of his sons and some of the family ancestry back in Catalunya. The son who went to Puerto Rico was Luis Eusebio Pedro Romaguera. I have encountered in the US 1880 census a Romaguera who arrived from Cuba to Florida whose name was Joaquín E Romaguera. There was a son of Miguel Romaguera in Catalunya named Joaquín Esteban Basilio Romaguera, maybe he went to Cuba? My father, Edilberto Romaguera, was born in Santiago, Cuba on February 23, 1935. His father, Guillermo Romaguera was born in Cuba on April 6, 1906. His father is Nicola Romaguera. I believe he was also born in Cuba but not positive. Any connection?

I BELIEVE MY GRANDMOTHER IS THE HELEN A ROMAGUERA BORN 1895. I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO FIND MORE ABOUT HER FAMILY. SHE ACTUALLY WAS KNOWN BY NELLIE E. MARRIED TO LEOPOLD SOLOMON, LIVED IN TAMPA.

The information that I have was in my original post. I do not have more. I am interested in Romaguera because it is originally a Catalunya name and is my wife's surname. Her family told me that the Romagueras in the mid 1800s split the kids up and sent some to Cuba, Puerto Rico, South America, and Louisiana.

My name is Linda Romaguera. I googled for information on the Romaguera history in Puerto Rico and i saw your inquiry. I believe I may have some information, don’t know how useful it is but here goes. My father is Manuel Antonio Romaguera (b. 1930 in Ponce).I have 2 half brothers from my dads first marriage. Michael and Allen Romaguera. I believe they live in Brooklyn, N.Y. My fathers father was Antonio Romaguera Landreau(born Nov. 2, 1901 in Ponce) and his wife was Matilde Collazo Fuentes. My Grandmother Matilde was the first wife, and Consuelo Contreras was the second wife. They had 2 children. I got to know my uncle Tony (Antonio Romaguera), I never met his sister. My dad recalls that they called her cookie, but doesn’t remember her given name. My uncle Tony had a step-daughter named Rita and 4 sons Tony, Robby,Randy and Tracy. Antonio Romaguera’s father was Antonio Romaguera and was married to Maria Landreau. Unfortunately this is all the information I have, hope it helps.
