If the Social Security death index shows that his last residence was that XX number, then he lived there when he died. If it show only last benefit paid there, he or perhaps his wife was in the Caribbean. Do you know her ancestry? Unfortunately all of this was administered out of Barbados, & does not indicate what island -- St. Vincent? etc. he was on. You would have to contact the US government in Barbados, perhaps the consulate, to find out further info.
