I remember the golf course, the club with the pool and a pond. I came back to visit about 15 years ago and of course it all looks so different. He then went on to Cedar Hill

I know that with my grandmother he had a further 11 children of which 7 are alive today. They lived in port of spain up until his death. My mother knew of a few half siblings from my grandfathers past relationships but has sadly lost contact with her as well, Her name was Sandra Plass do Santos she lived in Sugar Hill, Demerra, Gyuana and she imigrathed to the US in 1975-ish. Lionel Gabriel Tree would have decended from the Alvarez, Ocho, Granger and La Foucade families.

If any one has any information on this family i'd realy appreciate.

Thanks
Aisha Romilly-Rowe

Hello, I am searching for anyone woo knows about Barry Conyers Hart, a black freedman who come to Trinidad from Antigua in 1800. He was the father of two women who according to John Salliant: "

Around 1790, two young sisters born into a slaveholding free black family began instructing Antiguan slaves in literacy and Christianity. The sisters, Anne (1768-1834) and Elizabeth (1771-1833) Hart, first instructed their father's slaves at Popeshead--he may have hired them out rather than using them on his own crops--then labored among enslaved women and children in Antiguan plantations and in towns and ports like St. John's and English Harbour. Soon the sisters came to write about faith, slavery, and freedom. Anne and Elizabeth Hart were moderate opponents of slavery, not abolitionists but meliorationists."

Please tell me if you are aware of HART from Antigua in your family tree.

All the best,

Jennifer

Hello fellow Harts...My grandfather was William Hart (of african descent) from St Kitts. At some time he migrated to the Dominican Rep where my father Clemente Augustus Hart was born. It seems as if names-such as William and Augustus- were passed on at 1st from slave owners, and then within family members. I've researched Daniel Harts (black and white) and Nathaniel Harts(black and white). At one point I even found a Mary Agusta Hart. And saw a 1905ish document of an Aug. Hart (black male-shoemaker) entering Ellis Island from St Kitts...A lot of stuff! If anyone knows of Harts who migrated to DR- specifically San Pedro De Macoris, Angelina, Hato Mayor, Ingenio Consuelo- hit me up @bhmiddletown@yahoo.com...God bless.

Sorry I cant help you there. I'm not sure that the Guayaguayare area ever had sugar cane on a commercial scale. Certainly when I was in T'dad in 60's I never heard mention of a factory that far south. Its possible that there had been a mill. I just dont know. There were small estates of different sorts all over Trinidad in 1800's so possibly cocoa or something else was produced.

Hi , never got notified of your replies. I spoke to my mum. She felt the name Watkins was familiar but could not be certain. Do you feel able to post the names of any of your fathers siblings? Because her father worked at the factory she was centered there at usine. Not on the estates .
Gill

My grandfather was born on Nov. 1900, in Lapai Village, Lower Caroni, Trinidad and Tobago. I am assuming that he was given this name by the overseer in charge of the estate because his parents were not able to propably speak english fluently.
