Olga was the daughter of Don Emmanuel Mendes de Monsanto
a merchant and sugar financier with holdings on both St
Thomas Vieques and Puerto Rico. A Catholic convert he was
enobled by the Spanish for his role in the
commercialization of Vieques. He also financed his son in law Queeny in the formation of a small company to make saccharine Monsanto Chemical Co.
