I am looking for information on my great grandfather, Georg Shinkowitz or Shinkowits. I believe he was from Eisenhuttl.
My g.granfather claimed to be Austrian, but Ellis Island records show Hungary. Also my g.grandmother -- last name Berkovits. Not sure of the spelling. Are there any other Shinkowitz out there. The name has been changed to Shink and they settled in Detroit about 1905. Apparently through Ellis Island records he was friends of the Rosenkranz and the Stettners from Bocksdor/Bacaflava? or something like that.
I would love to hear from someone who has any info on this.
