I, too, am descendent of Peter Mueller (Miller). The first known ancestors were Peter and Maria Miller of Amlach, in the province of Carinthia in Austria. They were the parents of Peter mIller who was born September 25, 1694. On Feb. 6, he married Dorothea Santer at Olsach, Austria. A son, Petrus was born to them on Nov. 20, 1721. He was baptised a Roman Catholic the day he was born. During the time of his youth, Lutheran teaching was becoming a real threat to the Catholic Church. Petrus accepted this teaching along with his future wife Elisabeth Innenwinkler and thousands of others. The Roman Catholic Chirch together with the Hapsburg Empress, Maria Theresa, tried to stop them. Persecution that included hefty fines, beatings, imprisonment, and death took place, but even this did not stop them. Her only answer was to have them all exiled to Transylvania where they were told that they would starve and that their children would die. They still did not recant. It was in Transylvania that they joined the Hutterites.
