In case this is helpful to your research, there were family death notices published in Milwaukee's German language papers for Jacob Makoutz and Katharine (Madritsch) Makoutz.

The index of these papers includes the spelling Makutz. Other names referenced with Makoutz include Rosa Anderwald, Louis & Lena Truppe, and the maiden name Madritsch.

Called "Milwaukee's German Newspapers; an index of death notices and related items", the index covers 1844-1950. You can use the index at the Salzmann Library in St. Francis (Milwaukee Co.). But look-ups are freely available via email. Like many valuable research resources, the index is not online.
