Keith, I have been contacted by Dr. Branka Lapajne, an Slovenian historian. He found and applicaiton for emmigration, dated 3/18/1864, for Johann vouk and his wife Antonia (Jansa/Janscha/Yanisha) and their one year old son, Felix. A Valentine Vouk also applied at the same time. He has stated that Vouk means "wolf" and is one of the older surnames tracing to Zuzemberk, southern Slovenia around Metlika or Crnomelj, in Slovenj Gradec, Styria and in northern Carniola/Kranjska, to name a few. My Felix and his parents are from Hrase which is near Radovlija or Bled in northern Slovenia. The Dr. also has Vouk and Janscha surnames in his family tree. He is going to get copies of the applications and will translate/transcribe for me. I will be happy to mail you copies if you think they will help your search. P/S I believe Valentine Vouk to be the brother of Johann. Valentine was the father of Frank Vouk who was the father of William Vouk, Sr. who was the father of William Vouk, Jr. who comes to our family reunion each year. Bill has many siblings and they have many children. I hope we can link ourselves. Good searching and let me know if I can help further. I will write if I get anymore info. Tina
