Family lore has it that my great grandmother, Elizabeth Hofer was the grand daughter of Andreas Hofer. But we cannot make the link. Andreas only had one son (he had 15 children, 8 of whom died). His son was named Johann but we have no information as to when he emigrated. My Elizabeth was born in Ohio in 1826, married Philip Lorenz Riehm in 1843; moved to De Kalb County IN, in 1846. If Johann was born in 1794, he could have had a daughter born in 1826, but no Elizabeth is listed among his children who are:
(Anna), (Franz), Karoline, Josef, Karl, (Franz), (Ferdinand), (Wilhelmine), Johann, (Andreas)), Andreas, (Maria), Ferdinand, (Mathilde), Adele. I would appreciate any help in making this connection. We do not know the name of the parents of Elizabeth for sure. Thanks. Carolyn
