Something doesn’t add up here….
From the Ellis Island records,
Minna Stiaszny (19 years old) arrived 21 AUG 1901 to stay with her brother in NYC at 19 E 77th
She was traveling with Rosalia Ribarik (18 years old) who apparently was listed as going to stay with the same person, also listed as her brother.
Except they are both listed as single so I’m not sure why they would have different names… that’s very strange.
So, then who was the brother?
Well, there were two young males that both are listed with the same village of Rohrbach.
21 NOV 1897 (24 years old), Samu Stiasni arrives in NYC (who changed his name to Samuel Stiasny and is listed throughout the census records, easy to find)
10 JUN 1900, married Helene Weinwurm, his parents are listed as Herman Stiasny and Regina Greenhood.
30 NOV 1904, Sigmund Stiasny arrived in NYC from the same village to stay with his brother, listed as Samuel Stiasny (see above)
24 SEP 1908, Sigmund appears to have married Jennie Delikat in NYC, his parents are listed as Herman Stiassny and Regina Greenhirt
28 MAR 1938 appears to have died in Manhattan at age 48.
Interestingly, Sam arrived in 1897 with a few cousins including a Weisskopf who’s mother’s maiden name was Grunwald. I suspect that the Greenhood and Greenhirt maiden names listed for the sons was actually Grunwald. The other cousins were Friedler and Weifs…. I can’t trace them well….
If Minna is your GGM then perhaps some of these names should ring a bell including Sam’s children (Julius, Lillian, Sidney) and their children. All of these families would have been Jewish.
However, you stated that her name was Wilhelmina and she married William Schliessler… I’m having trouble connecting these names….
