I agree, you have got some amazing genes there! My grandfather lived into his 80s. When he first arrived in the US in 1914, he was 24 and he traveled with his cousin, Anton Haemmerle to Texas to see the west, I guess. Eventually, he settled back in New Jersey and opened his own embroidery business. I think things were okay for a while. He hired my grandmother who was about 10 years younger and they were married in 1921. I am not sure what he did after the embroidery factory closed but I have some fabulous pieces of embroidery that they created.
I bet not many of the Lustenau immigrants settled in California or Oregon as your father did.
I would love to find more about Anton but so far, no luck. Let me know which family is your's in the Lustenauer Sippenbuch and perhaps we can see if the families cross somehow.
