"County Farmer" newspaper, Holmes co., OH.,5 Aug.1897; JOSEPH GEISINGER DEAD; Joseph GEISINGER died at his home , in Ripley township, one mile south of Shreve, Thursday morning, July 29, of general debility, aged 79 years, 11 months, and 8 days. Deceased was born in Columbiana county, O., August 21, 1817. In 1824 with his parents, he came to Wayne county, and in 1840 became a citizen of Ripley township, Holmes county. In December of the same year he was united in marriage to Miss Lydia STUCKEY of Ripley township. To this union were born 8 children, six of whom are living. These are the three sons; Samuel, William, and Joseph, Jr., and Mrs. S.B. STERLING, Mrs. Henry BARTRAM, and Mrs. Frank SCHAAF, who, together with their aged mother, are bowed down with grief. Mr. GEISINGER was a kind and indulgent husband and father and an upright man in all the walks of life; likewise a consistent member and worker in the Disciple Church for 50 years. A coincidence worth relating is that at the time of his death and for many years previous, he lived in the same house in which he was married 57 years ago. In 1871 Mr. GEISINGER was elected county commissioner, serving three years. Again, in 1877 he was elected commissioner and in 1880 re-elected to that office, making nine years in all. In 1887 he was elected infirmary director and in 1890 re-elected, making six years to that office. Both of these offices he filled creditably to himself and the county that had thus honored him. The funeral was held at Ripley Church on Saturday and was largely attended. The services were conducted by Rev. A.M. BIRD. Interment was made in the cemetery grounds adjoining.
