Things are as I thought. Someone in America was saying "Czechslovakia" because that is what the place was when things like death certificates and 1930 censuses were recorded - Bohemia had vanished by then, but for the records for history before WW1 you will have to concentrate on the Austro-Hungarian Empire - they would have Austro-Hungarian (Austrian) citizenship but were apparently Slovak by ethnicity if they spoke Slovak.. HIs name is clearly German but Germans/German speakers, Czechs/Czech speakers and Slovaks/Slovak speakers were very much mixed up. You might get more help if you posted on the Slovakia board, or Bohemia board under Historical Regions but the best thing would be if you could find even a suggestion of an actual place-name or as the name Konieczny is far more uncommon than Boch it might be worth putting a query under that name. Hope this helps a bit more - but do just forget "Czechslovakia" they would not have had a clue on what you were speaking about!
