I am in possession of a very clear tracing and accurate family history of the de Lucovic family tree that was in the Seaman's Guild collection in the Maritime Museum of Kotor. My mother. Anne Cynthia Verona de Lucovich, made this copy while visiting her uncle Arturo deLucovich. Some of the records were obtained from Anne's cousin, Marco deLucovich, who at the time was curator of the museum in Kotor.
Count Antonio deLucovich, Anne's grandfather on her father's side, settled in South Wales (U.K.) about 1860 and established a coal exporting business in partnership with his brother, Marco, who lived in Dalmatia (became a part of yugoslavia) and organized the other end of the business, with offices in Trieste, Venice and other European ports.
He was a direct descendant of the Dalmatian-Austrian family 'Lucovic', whose family record were kept in the afore mentioned museum.
Kotor is an an ient and important seaport and stronghold of the Adriatic, and has a colorful history relTing to the various fights for its possession.
After the fall of the awestern Empire, Kotor ame under Byzantine rule until 1185. Thereafter it was controlled by Serbia until 1370. By which time the family history has begun to be recorded in the Seamen's Guild (One of the most ancient of such guilds).
