Thank you for the links and education. I hadn't noticed from which board the thread had originated.

Unfortunately I can't confirm Adolf's birthplace. I have very little information on him. The one record I have is his marriage certificate to Elizabeth Steel in 1873 in England. That document only gives his occupation and his father's (Josef) occupation.
According to other family trees his birthplace is listed as either Germany or Austria but I cannot confirm either.
