Classification: Query
and what has it to do with crownland Küstenland of former Austrian-Hungarian Empire?
the area is now the peninsula of Istria, Croatia and parts of Slovenia to the north.

i do not think, that Swoboda lived in this area (lastname), it is the germanized variant of a czech name. meaning for the czech Svoboda is in connection to land-owners. besides the serfs (subduted people) there were free, independent yeomen or freeholders among the rural population. Thus was given the surname SVOBODA (a free man).

do you have a placename to refine the search? the person could also have resettled anywhere in the Empire, so you need a placename. but the orgin is czech.
