One thing it is important to remember is that at that time diagnosis was still very hit and miss and there were still many terms and words used which really tell nothing. I am not a Czech scholar but I think this says "dessication" or "dehydration" of the spinal cord which could mean almost anything - TB of the spine could be one. I have found several causes of death for babies in England described as "inanition" which simply means "failure to thrive" - just what was that? It is very possible you will never really know as this is definitely not an exact medical term. However it could be a layman's term which was regularly used for something, Best of luck anyway.
