(1) I have a US Census record referring to my great grandfather's home as "Brange." I know that this place was in Tachau (Tachov) district, but have not been able to find it. Initially, I believed it was present day Branka (to the west of Tachov city), but I learned more, and now I doubt it. Is it possible that the pronunciation of Brod could have been misunderstood as "Brange?"

(2) I have other references to my family's origins in "Mayrhofen" and "Godrich Lunhozen" (or "Goodrich"). I believe these refer to two small villages south of Tachau city known then as Klein Maierhofen and Godrusch (now Male Dvorce and Jadruz). I do not understand the meaning or significance of "Lunhozen," and I do not know how either of these places could have been identified as "Brange." If you have any thoughts on these questions, I would appreciate reading them.
