This is what I think I have pieced together so far:

My ancestor Wilhelm Heinrich NIEPERT was born in 1845 in Minden Westfalen Germany. He married Sophia WACHTER. Sophia and Wilhelm NIEPERT traveled on a ship to the United States around 1883, leaving from Bramerhaven. (Wilhelm's father, widowed and then remarried, remained in Germany.) Wilhelm and Sophia NIEPERT had the following children: Henry Frank, Lottie, Lizzie, Wilhelmina, William Henry, Charles 1, Frank H., Charles 2, Frieda. Several of these children were born in Germany. The family wound up settling in the St. Louis area (Granite City, IL).

I would appreciate hearing from anyone knowing anything about this family--who Wilhelm or Sophia's parents or family were in Germany or where they lived, etc. Thanks very much----Melinda Elmore
