Seeking the ancestors of Conradus Seigneur DE SUANEVELT,(1228) after the city of SCHWANFELD in Unterfranken, spelled then in the Frankish dialect as VON SWANEVELD. The name of his wife was Margarethe. The city was founded in the year 772 as SUANAFELT when lands were donated to the Fulda Monastery. Conrad Herr VON SWANEVELD as he was also known was castellan of Burg Botenlauben near Bad Kissingen in Unterfranken, after his return to Unterfranken with Otto Graf VON HENNEBERG VON BOTENLAUBEN from theiur travels in the Holy Land. The family lived on Burg Botenlauben until then feudal Johannes Herr VON SWANEVELD died in 1395. The family also was well-known in Wuerzburg, Unterfranken. Originally the family bore the name VON HENNEBERG VON SWANEVELD after the Burg in the city of that name. The family during the middle-ages is believed to have moved north to what is known today as the Netherlands, where it is still known by its original name VAN SWANEVELD and a variety of spellings of the name. It has also spread to Scandinavia, Canada, the USA and New Zealand. I have a considerable database on the family and would be happy to share what I have found with anyone also researching the name anywhere, and particularly in Bavaria.
