My hardest ancester to find is my gggrandmother Elise Weidenhammer. I only have information for her after she married in NY in 1892. I received a copy of her marriage record that says she was born in GeFrass, Baiern. My thought is that it's actually GeFrees, Bavaria. Or could it be something else? Is the surname right for that region?

I know she returned to Germany in 1922 and 1933 to visit family and attend the Passion Play in Oberammagau. We always thought she came from around there. But Gefrees, doesn't seem close to there.

Any thoughts?
