I don't know much, but I do continue to hit those "brick walls". I have been told that Henry (my ggrandfather), William, and Schuyler Schlagneck arrived in the U.S. in the early 1870's from Coesfield, Germany. Henry was born in 1851. After Henry and Schuyler arrived in TX. they changed the spelling to Slakey. A pedigree chart shows that William settled in Quincy, IL and married Elizabeth Meddendoce in 1866. He was said to have been born in 1843 in Coesfeld and died in 1879 in Quincy. Schuyler settled in Dallas, TX and Henry lived in Sulphur Springs, Hopkins Co. TX and then in Charleston, Delta Co. TX (which is where I live). He is buried along side his wife, Marie Victorine Rotrou of France, in Charleston,TX. He died in 1908. Does any of this make sense??
If they arrived in early 1870's, then Wm. couldn't have married in 1866 in IL. DUH!
Any info will be appreciated...
